M70HD Document Camera FAQ

Can this product support flip teaching (flipped classroom) where students learn new contents online by watching video lectures at home and apply what they learn in the classroom?

Yes! Through the free AVer software, you can present, annotate, record, and stream lesson plans through sites such as YouTube™, Dropbox™, etc.

Can I connect the M70HD to my computer?

Yes, the M70HD can connect to both PC and Mac with a USB Cable.

Is it possible to use the M70HD without a computer?

Yes, the M70HD can connect to a projector or LCD screen using the VGA or HDMI outputs.

Does the M70HD have a microphone?

Yes, the M70HD has a built-in mic that makes it ideal for recording lesson plans and presentations.

Does the M70HD have an adjustable neck?

The M70HD has fully adjustable locking pieces; the neck and head easily rotate, swivel, expand, and collapse.

Is the M70HD hi-def?

Yes, the M70HD has an adjustable output of 30fps at 1080p.

Is there a light source on the M70HD?

The M70HD has a built in LED light attached to the camera head that provides light to your presentation when needed.

What is the Shooting Area of the M70HD?

The M70HD has a maximum shooting area of 16.54" x 12.4" (420mm x 315mm)

What type of equipments can I connect to the M70HD?

You can attach any display equipments such as projectors, LCD monitors, TV's, etc that has HDMI, VGA, DVI-D (via optional converter), or Composite input.

Is the M70HD compatible with Interactive whiteboards?

Yes, with the AVerVision Flash Plug-in downloadable from AVer's website.

Is the M70HD compatible with Skype?

Yes, the M70HD is compatible with Skype.

Is there a way to save images displayed by the document camera?

Yes, there are three ways to do this. You can either capture/save images to the internal memory of the doc cam, to the On-board USB flash drive/SD slots, or using AVer's Software, you can capture and save images directly to the computer.

M70HD Document Camera Troubleshooting

There is no Camera image on the presentation screen.

  1. Check all connections again as shown in the user manual.
  2. Verify the setting of the display output device; make sure it is set to the correct input channel.
  3. The unit's power light turns Red in standby mode. Press the POWER button again to turn it ON and the LED Power light will turn Green.
  4. The default camera display resolution setting is on 1024X768. If your output device does not support this resolution; no image can be projected.
  5. If you couldn't get any image connecting through the HDMI port, try connecting the camera to any computer monitor using the VGA/RGB connector, then press the "Default" button the remote control to revert the camera to factory setting.
  6. Check all cables are good among the display device, AVerVision Document Camera and your PC, replace cables if necessary.

There is no computer signal on the presentation screen.

  1. Check all cable connections among the display device, M70HD and your PC, replace cables if necessary.
  2. Connect your PC to the M70HD first before you power on your computer.
  3. If you are using a Laptop, make sure you set your laptop to Dual or Clone display mode. Refer to your laptop's user manual for the proper command.

The picture on the presentation screen is out of focus.

  1. Reset your document camera to default by pressing Menu > System > Default > Yes > Enter. Finally power-cycle your camera.
  2. Check your output device's focus adjustment
  3. Press the auto focus button on your document camera's control panel.
  4. Manually adjust the focus from the Document camera's menu or on your remote control.

How do I transfer the images from M70HD to a computer?

This enables you to transfer the captured image from the built-in memory or SD to a computer.

The instruction below MUST be read and followed BEFORE connecting the USB cable.

  1. Make sure to set the USB switch to for the computer to detect AVerVision M70HD.
  2. MUST set the USB to PC as STORAGE before connecting the USB cable.
  3. When "Mass Storage Start" appears at the lower right corner of the presentation screen, you may now connect the USB cable.
  4. Upon connecting the USB cable, the system automatically detects the new removable disk. You can now transfer the captured image(s) from the M70HD built-in memory to the computer hard disk.

The brightness on the presentation screen is dark and unreadable

  1. Turn on Auto Image in your unit's Menu
  2. Reset your units display by pressing Menu, select Mode > Text. Return to Menu and select Default > Yes. Finally power-cycle your camera.
  3. Make sure there are sufficient lighting in the room or Turn on the LED lamp on your document camera head
  4. Manually adjusts the Brightness and Contrast levels in the Camera's Menu.
  5. Your projector's bulb may need to be changed.

How do I record a video using the on-board recording button?

  1. Insert a USB flash drive into the USB memory slot. USB dip Switch should be moved towards the USB symbol. Now simply press the "Recording" button on your unit's control panel. To stop the recording, press the "Recording" button again. The video will save in .AVI format in your USB flash drive. M70HD can support USB flash drive from 2GB to 64 GB.
  2. Insert a SD card into the SD card memory slot. From your document camera's Menu, select Setting tab > Current Storage > SD memory card > enter. Now simply press the "Recording" button on your unit's control panel. To stop the recording, press the "Recording" button again. The video will save in .AVI format in your SD card. M70HD can support SD card from 1GB to 32GB.

The AVerVision Software cannot detect the document camera.

  1. Make sure your USB cable is connected
  2. Make sure the USB cable or computer USB port is not defective
  3. Move the USB switch on the document camera away from the USB symbol.
  4. Check your Device Manager, If Digital presenter driver shows damaged, right click and select "Update Driver".
  5. Make sure you have the most currently updated software, download list is found under Download tab.

Using the AP20T Slide Switch and F button

The slide switch and F button of AP20T allow you to use it to freeze the screen when you are in camera mode and zoom in and out the image when you are in playback and camera mode. With the Point Focus feature, you can adjust the focus anywhere on the screen by simply pressing the pen tip on a flat surface.

How do I use the Annotation Feature?

In single image playback mode or when the screen is frozen in camera mode, you can use the annotation feature to overlay straight line or freeform line on the captured image or still camera screen with the USB mouse or AP20T connected to the USB port of AVerVision M70HD. It comes with the following selections: Color Palette, Line Thickness, Line, Freehand, Capture, Eraser, and Hide/Show icons.

Connecting a USB mouse or AP20t

  1. Set the USB switch on the left panel to . AVerVision M70HD will then detect the USB mouse and the LED on the control panel will light up.

  2. Connect the USB mouse cable or AP20T dongle to the USB slot of AVerVision M70HD.

Using the Annotation Control Panel

The annotation control panel appears on the upper left corner of the screen. A cursor will appear on the screen. Move the cursor on the Annotation control panel selections and left-click to select the features you want to use.

How Do I Mount the M70HD on a Flat Surface

Measure and mark the horizontal of 75 mm and vertical of 70 mm from the center line distance between the holes on the flat surface as describe in the illustration below. Use 4 pieces of M4.0 screws for 6 mm holes and secure the M70HD on the flat surface.

How Do I Connect an Amplified Speaker?

Plug a 3.5mm plug amplified speaker to port. Only the audio from the video playback is supported.

We recommend connecting an amplified speaker to the Audio output port. Take caution when using earphones. Adjust the volume down on the remote to prevent hearing damage due to loudness.

How Do I Connect to a Microscope?

Connect the AVerVision M70HD to a microscope enables you to examine microscopic objects on a big screen.

  1. Change the image display mode to Microscope. Press MENU > select IMAGE tab > select MODE > select (microscope) and press .
  2. Aim the camera head at the farthest point and press AUTO FOCUS.
  3. Adjust the focus of the microscope.
  4. Select the appropriate rubber coupler size for the microscope eyepiece and insert it in the microscope adapter.
  5. Remove the microscope eyepiece from the microscope and connect it to the microscope adapter with the rubber coupler inserted. Fasten the 3 bolts until the adapter secures the eyepiece.
    For the eyepiece, we suggest using 15.5mm eye relief or higher.
  6. Attach the microscope adapter to the AVerVision camera head. Then connect it to the AVerVision and microscope.

How do I turn off the on-screen display of the AVer logo?

To turn off the AVer logo display, press and hold the Left and Menu button for 3 seconds. Repeat this step to re-enable the logo display.
